Why does Rosita® skip Heavy Metals testing with Ratfish Liver Oil?

Heavy metals in Ratfish Liver Oil are tested periodically throughout the year. Rosita® conducts this testing less frequently because results have consistently shown non-detectable levels.

This is largely due to the nature of ratfish. As bottom dwellers, any heavy metals they encounter tend to accumulate in the fillet rather than the liver. This pattern is also seen in cod; however, due to differences in behavior and environment, cod can be more susceptible to higher toxin exposure overall.

Fishing is a major industry in Norway, and strict government regulations ensure sustainability and rigorous testing standards across all fisheries.

In addition to periodic heavy metal testing, every batch of Ratfish Liver Oil undergoes comprehensive quality testing. For ratfish, heavy metals are not a primary concern. Instead, dioxins are more relevant for bottom-dwelling species, and Rosita® consistently tests well below recommended safety limits.
